A family of five met with an accident on Yamuna Expressway late on Thursday night. They were headed to Shahdara from their native Bharthana in Etawah district. Three members of the family died in the impact, the other two are gravely injured and in the critical care unit.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Anshul Tripathi, Aashish and Ananya. The injured — 50-year-old businessman VK Tripathi and 23-year-old Sharmi — are in the ICU of Noida’s Kailash Hospital.
Police blame overspeeding for the mishap. The Tripathis’ car hit a road divider on the e-way near Sports City and turned turtle many times over. Anshul died on the spot. Aashish and Ananya succumbed to their injuries before critical medical care could be administered to them. “Gas cutters had to be used to extricate the victims from the mangled vehicle. The three bodies have been sent for post mortem and their next of kin have been informed,” said Brijesh Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Greater Noida.
