A "rashly and reckless driven" car allegedly brushed past a crowd near a mosque in Shahdara when devotees were leaving after Eid prayers on Wednesday. However, nobody was injured, police said.

According to Meghna Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shadhara district, no casualty has been reported and a case has been registered against the driver.

"The white Honda City car brushed past several devotees who were coming out of the mosque in Khureji area after performing 'Namaz' on Wednesday noon. After the incident, agitated people gathered at Khureji Chowk but the crowd was dispersed swiftly with the help of Aman committee of the area and the situation was brought under control then," said the DCP.

"During the investigation it has been learnt that the vehicle was found to be stolen from the area of Madhu vihar police station on May 30. It is likely that the person driving the vehicle panicked at the idea of being caught," said the DCP.

"Police teams have been formed and they are scanning CCTV footage in the area to trace down the car and to identify the accused. Further investigation is going on," said the DCP.

However, agitated crowd just after the incident broke wind screen and glasses of three Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses in the area.
