In what is a drive-by shooting, car thieves shot a bank manager when he resisted their attempts to steal his Chevy. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Vaishali’s Judge Colony under Indirapuram police station.
Safiullalah Khan, branch manager of Standard Chartered Bank at ITO in Delhi, was returning home from work. Around 10.30 pm when the bank manager stopped his car near a paan shop at the Colony’s corner on link Road, two armed robbers on a motorbike tried to snatch the keys to his car, but he put up a struggle.
One of the robbers whipped out his gun and shot him in the jaw. Eyewitnesses to the fracas summoned the cops. The manager was rushed to Yashoda Hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
“A criminal case under Section 307 of IPC has been filed. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the men at the earliest,” said Circle Officer (CO) IV Ranvijay Singh.
