Delhi experienced a pleasant day on Sunday as the minimum temperature rose to 12°C, much above the season’s average. The Safdarjung observatory, considered to be the official reading for the city, also recorded traces of rain in some places in the last 24 hours.

An official of the Met Department said that the maximum temperature was registered at 19°C, a notch below normal while the minimum was recorded at 12°C, five notches above normal. He also said that minimum and maximum humidity recorded during the day were 59 per cent and

100 per cent respectively, adding that it was also a partly cloudy sky throughout the day. Foggy conditions were also witnessed in several parts of the city as visibility was recorded 500 meters till 8.30 am. Several trains travelling northward were delayed due to fog, Railways officials said.

Six trains, including Jansadharan Express, Sapt Kranti Express and Brahmaputra Mail were cancelled, they said.  On account of foggy condition in the North-East region, Railways have already announced cancellation of 15 trains, including Dibrugarh-Rajdhani, ludhiana Shatabadi, Garhwal Express and Mahananda Express, till February 16.

Weatherman has predicted mainly clear sky in the national Capital on Monday. “There will be a mainly clear sky on Monday and moderate or dense fog would occur in the morning,” the official added. He also added that minimum temperature is expected to settle at 10°C while the maximum may be 20°C.

Despite sunny weather in many parts of the country on Sunday, biting cold awaits several parts of northern India in the next few days.
