The national Capital reported 89 cases of Covid-19 and four deaths on Sunday as the positivity rate further dipped to 0.12 per cent, according to a bulletin issued by the health department of the Delhi Government.

According to the official data, 285 people have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The 89 fresh cases took Delhi’s Covid-19 tally to 14,33,934 while the death toll climbed to 24,965. The case fatality rate is 1.74 per cent.

As the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic spread across the country, Delhi began witnessing a rise in the number of daily cases and deaths from April 19. It reported the highest single-day spike of 448 deaths on May 3.

However, there is a declining trend in the number of cases and deaths over the last several days.

“The number of active cases stands at 1,568 of which 478 are in home isolation. A total of 74198 tests, including 54297 RT-PCR tests, were conducted a day ago, the bulletin said.

The Delhi Government has speeded up revamping several existing hospitals to increase the number of beds and also building new hospitals in order to deal with the “possible” third wave of Covid-19.
