Cabbie, helper molest two minors, arrested

A privately-hired school cab driver and his helper were arrested for molesting two four-year-old girls in West Delhi’s Rajauri Garden area. The case was reported after the parents of one the victims approached police. Police said the accused repeatedly molested the victims, who availed services of their cab to and from school. Police said the molestation, which included kissing and groping the children, went on for quite some time before coming to light on Tuesday. 

The accused have been identified as driver Charanjeet Singh (32), a resident of Tilak Nagar and his helper Kulivinder (30) from the same area. Police said both of them were  accomplices in the crime.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, West district Pushpendra Kumar said the suspects might have been involved in more such cases in the past. “We are verifying their involvements in more such cases,” said Kumar. Both the victims live in the Rajauri Garden area with their parents who had privately hired the van around two months ago to ferry their children to the school and bring them back home.

As only two children travelled by the van it offered the helper regularly opportunities to sneak into the vehicle and then allegedly take turns to molest the children in the running vehicle, said police.The parents of one of the girl noticed some change in the behviour of their daughter after which they enquired about the matter. On Tuesday, they learnt that their daughter was abused. 

They approached the police station and lodged a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and under Section 354 (assault with an intention to outrage a woman’s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code against the two accused.
