A cab driver accused of molesting, beating and threatening a 10-year-old girl on September 30 in East Delhi's Preet Vihar was arrested on Monday, said police.

The driver identified as Ravi (40) has been sent to judicial custody.

Sources said the incident took place when the minor girl, who lives in the same building as the accused, was playing outside the building. Ravi, who drives a Swift car bearing a Haryana number plate, for a private company in Gurgaon allegedly lured her on the pretext of a joy ride and ice cream, said sources.

He then allegedly took her to an isolated spot where he molested her, thrashed her and threatened the Class V student of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, said sources, adding that then the accused dropped the girl back to her house.

Sources said after coming to home, the minor girl narrated her ordeal to her mother. After which, her parents took the girl to the Preet Vihar police station and police lodged a complaint based on the girl's statement.

Police said Ravi was booked under charges of IPC Sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) at the Preet Vihar police station.
