A 21-year-old chartered accountancy (CA) student and a 41-year-old taxi driver committed suicide in Delhi in separate incidents.  In the first case, Upama Singh hanged herself with the help of her chunni at her hostel in laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. She was reportedly under depression after having failed to clear the CA exam.

According to police, the victim, hails from Chapra district in Bihar. She had distanced herself from friends since February 5, the day the results of her second year CA examinations were declared. She had been staying in a rented accommodation.

On Sunday morning, a friend from an adjacent room knocked on her door and upon not getting any response, she peeped through the window and saw Singh hanging. Soon the incident was informed to the police by the hostel owner. A suicide note in which she sought forgiveness from her mother was also recovered from her room.

"Singh had hanged herself in the night and had been dead for a long time. The body has been sent to the lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for post-mortem and the police has informed her family members," a police officer said.

In the second incident, Harsh Rawat was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his house in Swaroop Nagar area of northwest Delhi. Rawat's body was found by his wife on Saturday evening. "We rushed to the spot after his wife informed us about the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital," a police officer said.

The police said that they have found a suicide note where the victim blamed a man of cheating him financially. In the note, Rawat wrote that he had been depressed over the loss dealt by the man when the latter facilitated the trading of two taxi vans. "We have nabbed the man named in the suicide note and are questioning him," the officer added.
