A 50-year-old businessman, Tarun Bajaj, was found murdered in New Rajendra Nagar area of Central District, a stone’s throw away from the local police station, on Wednesday. He was murdered in a brutal way as his throat was slit and organs had bulged out from the body. The murder was discovered by his wife around 5:45pm who alongwith his servant opened the door with her set of keys. She was aghast after seeing body of her husband lying in a pool of blood, naked and slightly covered with a bed sheet.
“There are deep wounds inflicted on his body with a sharp weapon. While it could be a murder committed solely to kill the victim, we are examining all possibilities in the case,” said a police officer, privy to the details of the case. Bajaj’s throat was also slit.
According to the police the incident took place around 6pm when Bajaj’s wife, Ritu Bajaj reached her residence after work. Despite ringing the door bell for consecutive number of time, no one opened the door. His servant, Sant Ram who had turned up at the house around 3:30pm also sat in the park since there was no response on the door. Sant Ram had also phoned up Tarun on his mobile but it went unanswered. Soon after the PCR call was made, police reached the spot only to find Bajaj lying in a pool of blood and naked with multiples stab wounds on his body. He was covered with a bed sheet and lay motionless in the bedroom. “Tarun Bajaj was a cable television businessman and was found murdered at his residence. We are probing the case from all angles. Further investigations are underway,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Central) Alok Kumar.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a minimum of three men had entered the house as three glasses of juice were kept on the table in the drawing room of the house. Some papers were also lying around the table which indicates that they knew him and might have come to discuss some paper work. The way he has been murdered shows that the sole motive was to kill him. Not just his throat has been slit but also the stitch marks of his recent heart surgery have been ripped apart. The crime team and the CFSl team reached the spot and lifted circumstantial evidence. The latch of the house is intact and none of the valuables in the house are missing. “Even though the house to some extent is ransacked, robbery does not seem to be the motive of crime. Entry to the house is friendly, indicating the role of an insider,” said a police official.
Bajaj’s wife worked as a legal advisor with the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation. Police officials have asked Ritu to provide the details of Tarun’s business partners and close aids. A statement of Sant Ram will also be recorded. Tarun’s call records are also beinmg scanned by the police. A case of murder has been registered.
