A 69-year-old businessman was allegedly shot dead by some unidentified men inside his office in Delhi, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place late on Monday evening in northwest Delhi's Rani Bagh area. Jai Narayan Gupta was shot inside his office situated a few miles from his Rani Bagh residence.
"He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead," said a police officer. Police said the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained while prima facie it seems business-related or personal enmity since Gupta was a moneylender and ran a metal factory. He was earlier employed as a town planner in Jhajjar district.
Investigators have collected footage from a CCTV installed near his office, which showed a man scurrying away. This was the second incident in two days of a businessman being killed in Delhi.
