In accordance with the provisions made in the annual Budget (2015-16) by the Delhi Government, the State Health Department is all set to commission 800-bed multi specialty hospital at Burari in north Delhi on August 9.

Initially, this hospital was proposed for only 200 beds but the Arvind Kejriwal Government has extended it to 800-bed. Delhi Chief Minister will inaugurate the hospital and it will become functional from August 9.

While Most of the construction work of the hospital is completed, the hospital will start functioning to its full capacity soon, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain told The Pioneer. In order to ensure that the hospital becomes fully functional, specialist doctors and paramedical staff will be recruited, he added.

The hospital will have special facility departments for neurology, gynaecology, paediatrics and cardiology.

While speaking to The Pioneer, Jain said, “The 800-bed hospital at Burari area will have multi-specialty facilities with multifarious treatment for people. We want to boost the health sector to a level that even richer people will start going for the treatment at the Government hospital.” Currently, the Delhi Government has two speciality hospitals such as Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital and Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital respectively.

When asked about the notice of the National Human Rights Commission’s (NHRC) to Delhi Government regarding the failure in the system to revamp the 228 existing primary health centres, Jian said, “We have planned to upgrade existing primary health care centres into polyclinics by providing them with additional infrastructure in the coming months.”

According to the sources, these upcoming polyclinics will offer four basic types of OPDs such as surgery, gynaecology, pediatrics and orthopedics.

Maliwal, along with, five acid attack victims met Jain and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today to discuss various issues.
