Perceptibly elated with the grand success of Vikas Rally on Sunday, the Delhi BJP has decided to move on to the next phase of its campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel on Monday said the momentum generated after announcing party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be carried forward.
“The party’s Assembly poll campaign would now move on to the Assembly segment level. The BJP is set to focus on five key issues of power, water, inflation, corruption and women’s safety,” he said. The cadres will hold meetings in every Assembly segment over the next few days and take these issues to the common people.
“The Congress seems to be in a state of panic following the success of Vikas Rally, which shows that all sections of society have joined hands to boot out the anti-people policies of the corrupt Congress party,” he added. Expressing his gratitude to Delhiites and BJP cadres, Goel said, “The party is buoyed by the fact that large number of people from different sections attended the rally on Sunday, even those who were not considered to be traditional BJP voters.”
Goel further slammed the Congress leadership for putting up some hoardings and posters which were in bad taste, a night before the Vikas Rally. “In its desperation to cling to power, Congress has resorted to cheap tactics. This is deplorable. The Congress is using its dirty tricks and is stooping to new lows.”
He said the presence of a large number of people from Muslim community, youth and weaker sections of the society in this rally is clear evidence that people have at large lost faith in the Congress. President of Delhi BJP’s Minority Morcha Atif Rashid said the slogan Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Everybody’s support, Everyone’s Development) given by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday has given new hope to Muslims. “Earlier, parties would talk about granting eight per cent or two per cent reservation to us. First time, some one is talking about equality. We have equal share in development. Obviously, Modi has created a wave. It will not stop here,” he said.
Meanwhile, BJP Overseas Affairs Convenor Vijay Jolly on Monday was in receipt of an email from the US Embassy extending thanks for inviting US Ambassador Nancy J Powell and Charge D’Affaires Michael Pelletier. Diplomats of over 30 countries attended the Sunday rally. However, US representatives could not attend the function.
