Bunty chor 'successor' in BMW arrested

Published on:

Bunty chor would have been proud of this “successor”. Not only does this thief love high-end cars but he also has an ingenious ploy to escape prying eyes of police and private security personnel guarding upscale areas of Gurgaon.

Residents of DlF city in Gurgaon fear strangers knocking on their door as this thief, identified as Vikram Kadyan by police, approaches his victims in flashy cars and disguise.

Just like Bunty Chor, Kadyan executes robberies with confidence and panache. He ran out of luck a fortnight ago when a CCTV camera in one of the houses in DlF Phase II,

captured him pointing a gun at an unsuspecting victim.

Police identified him as a native of Jhajjar district in Haryana. Kadyan has been involved in many cases of robbery in Haryana, Delhi and its adjoining cities, police said, adding that he has been active in Gurgaon for the past

one month.

Kadyan’s modus operandi is simple yet effective. Whichever house or flat he has targeted in the recent past, he has arrived poising as a courier boy in luxurious vehicles such as BMW, Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda Accord. The luxury vehicle helps him convince others of his disguise and escape without raising an alarm. According to the police, he generally strikes at a time when only one person is present in the house.

Kadyan uses intercom facility to inform the victim about a parcel in his/her name and when the person opens the door, he points a gun and forces his entry into the house.

Three cases of such robberies have been reported in

l and K blocks of DlF Phase II. During a robbery at l block, Kadyan was caught on CCTV camera pointing a gun at the head of a domestic help.

“We suspect his involvement in the Uttar Pradesh ex-MlA robbery case, recently fleeced off from his parked car at Hotel Crowne Plaza on

NH-8,” said Nazneen Bhasin, DCP East, Gurgaon.
