Wielding the broom for its self-claimed cleanliness drive, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are planning to meet the mayors of the three BJP-ruled municipal corporations on Tuesday.
“AAP volunteers have sent more than 3,000 photographs of garbage waiting to be cleaned from different parts of Delhi so far. These photos along with their location have been sent on the WhatsApp helpline number 8588833540 launched by the party on Saturday. Yet, there has been no action taken. Taking the cleanliness drive further, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh, along with other leaders will meet on Tuesday and will submit these photographs to seek cleaning of the spots shown in the photographs,” said the party in a statement.
“The leaders are going to meet the Mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation at 1 pm in his office. At 1.30 pm they shall meet the Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation and at 3.30 pm they will meet the Mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation,” added an official. The AAP has also decided to post all the photographs being received from the residents of Delhi on its website.
The party had opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan criticising it to be mere tokenism and had later launched its own cleanliness drive.
