To connect the residents with the beat constables and the senior police officials in their areas, Delhi Police is going to launch another App called Seva (service), fifth in the line of App services launched by the city police for better policing. The App will increase the accessibility of police on the mobile phones. A distress message sent by a victim would be seen by officers concerned in their area.

The beat constables will be equipped with the smart phones containing Seva App where they would not only upload the information regarding the beats, but will also listen to people’s grievances and take actions swiftly. “The Seva App will help people in reaching the police officials and stay connected with the beat constables throughout 24 hours. It will maintain a direct interface between the people in distress and the beat constables in their areas,” a senior official told The Pioneer.

Another special feature called ‘e-beat book’ will be also available in the Seva App. As of now, a constable maintains a register and makes the entry regarding law and order situation in the area falling in their jurisdictions. Every time, they had to come to the police station to make an entry in the register.

Delhi has 11 police districts and 180 police stations. Each police station is bifurcated in separate beat areas, which is looked after by a constable. These constables keep track on every suspicious activity in his area and report to the Station House Officer (SHO).

By this App, the constable will update the figures by just some clicks. It will help in saving the time as well as decreasing the labour work. The Station House Officer (SHO) will look after the entry and regular updates made by the beat constables of his area with this App.

“All the beat constables will be given a smart phone for accessing the Seva App. The residents have to download the App on their smart phone to get connected with it. The App will be launched soon,” added the officer.

A single distress message flashed on the App will be seen by every senior officer concerned in their jurisdiction. The senior officer may guide the concerned beat constable to act upon the message accordingly. This exercise will also bring a transparency in the police work.

Earlier, the police had launched Himmat App for the safety of the women. lost Report, Police Clearance Certificate and Character Verification Reports are the other Apps used in the android phones.
