A 14-year-old domestic help was allegedly confined inside a house and physically tortured and harassed by her 50-year-old woman employer, was rescued by the North district police on Wednesday night from Rani Bagh area.
The employer, Sati has been booked for physically abusing her domestic help, but no arrest has been made yet. The woman runs a boutique in the locality and that during girl’s medical check-up, several injury marks were found on her body. A senior police officer said that the incident came to light on Wednesday evening when one of the neighbours, where the victim worked, approached the Roop Nagar police station with a complaint that a minor girl is often beaten up by her employer. “After receiving the complaint, police called an NGO and later a raid was conducted by them. Police rescued the girl from the house and booked her employer,” the officer added.
The victim, in her statement, told the police that she is a native of Jharkhand and several times, she tried to run away but she was caught by her employer all the times and later she confined her.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman would beat the victim and would not give her proper food. She would even confine her in the house threatening her of dire consequences.
