A 26-year-old woman was found dead at an under-construction site in North-East Delhi’s Mansarovar Park area. The incident was reported on the intervening night of Wednesday. The woman was found wrapped in mattress and covered with tarpaulin a few metres away from her residence. Her body was in a semi-nude state and police suspect she was sexually assaulted. A clear picture will emerge once the post-mortem report is available.

According to police, a PCR call was received around 12.30 am about a body lying in a lane in the area. When a police team reached the spot, they found a woman lying prone. The woman’s body was wrapped in bedding and covered with tarpaulin. There was blood spatter on the mattress and tarpaulin. She was clothed in a green shirt, but was stripped waist down. Her family members had been searching for her since the evening she disappeared. They lodged a complaint with police.

They were taken to the mortuary of GTB Hospital where they identified the body. Her body bore six stab wounds on her neck, thigh and limbs. Her family members claimed her four-year-old son dropped hints about an alleged murder. Police recovered the woman’s clothes, three T-shirts soaked in blood, refreshments and 13 beer bottles from the spot. Police suspect she was

murdered and it could be the handiwork of more than one person. Police are also probing the role of a security guard of the building who was said to be missing after the woman’s body unearthed.
