A 23-year-old girl was found dead in semi-nude condition in an empty plot in outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area on Friday morning, according to police. It seems that the victim was sexually assaulted before being murdered, police said.
Police claimed the woman has been identified as a resident of Rani Khera village. She was working with an NGO. She had gone to her office in Raja Garden area on Thursday morning but did not return.
The incident came to light when the deceased brother informed the cops that his sister's body has been recovered from an empty plot just a few meters from their house.
Immediately a team was rushed to the spot and her body was sent for the autopsy. Police said the victim was strangulated to death. The body was found in a semi-nude state, which suggests that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
Police said the victim's family is under suspicion as they have not been cooperating and none of them bothered to lodge her missing complaint even as she did not return to house on Thursday night. "We are questioning the family members and all of them are under scanner," said a senior police officer.
Police is waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the case of death. A case under relevant sections has been filed at the Aman Vihar police station and further investigations are on.
