BMS admission opens scope for other students

Students seeking admission to Delhi University can expect further dip in cut off marks in the seventh list with a number of seats likely to be vacated by the students following the announcement of the entrance test result for the four-year Bachelor for Management Studies (BMS) course.

"BMS is a market oriented course so students might withdraw admissions from Commerce and Economics courses and if there are withdrawals then the cut-offs for these courses will go down in the next cut-off list for many colleges. We will get an exact idea once the admissions for the course start," said P C Jain, Principal SRCC.

University introduced the BMS course after scrapping  Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS). It will be offered at six colleges and has already become a popular choice among the students. According to the officials, there were over twenty-thousand students who had applied to both BMS courses. There was a central entrance exam in which over 20,000 students appeared.

There are 840 seats in the six colleges. The College of Vocational Studies (CVS) and Shaheed Rajguru College have 300 seats each for the course. The other four colleges Maharaja Agarsen, Deen Dayal, Ambedkar and Keshav Mahavidyalaya have 60 seats each.

"The course had a huge demand and we are expecting that students who got into BMS may withdraw from other courses. This will make seats open in other courses," said Sunil Sondhi, Principal Maharaja Agarsen College.

"The results will be uploaded on FMS website on Wednesday. Apart from the 840 selected students for counseling, we will also upload a list of waitlist candidates," said an official.
