The city is neck-deep in admission season and as the number of applications to Delhi University is increasing by the day, so are the demands of students. One can see a big majority of students opting for popular courses like Honours in English, Economics and BCom, which is impeding the chances of several students applying for the course. Thus, students are now looking at Bachelors (with Honours) in Management Studies (BMS) as a good backup option if they don’t get admission into any of their preferred courses.

Several students on Monday said that they were not keen on BMS as their first option, but didn’t mind pursuing it if they got into a good college with it. Sapna Goel, a student applying for Economics Honours said, “If I get into a college like Maharaja Agrasen or Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies then BMS is definitely a good option to pursue. It has great scope and helps in getting placed after college as well. But if I get into a good college for Economics, then I will go for that.” Another girl applying to English Honours, Rashmi Mundra, said, “The entire course structure of BMS is nice and it helps us understand how things work. It is also good in terms of skill enhancement.”

Some students wanted to pursue BMS because they felt that the entrance test would help them get into a good college. Rishabh Jain, a student who wanted to pursue a career in Human Resource, said, “With the kind of marks I have attained in Class XII, it is unlikely that I will get into a good college. However, BMS is one course that I can get into because of the entrance exam. Since the course is actually a multi-disciplinary one, I don’t mind doing it.” So far a total of 15,678 students have registered online to apply for the BMS course of which 8,095 have paid the fees.

Meanwhile, the second week of admissions began on a good note with the number of online registrations with payment of fees going up to 90,710. Additionally, 9,064 forms were sold offline on Monday and 11,146 were received. Thus the total number of forms sold offline till Monday were 1,23,168 of which 68,823 were received.
