Blood loss led to NRI death

The post-mortem of NRI Anmol Sarna has ascribed his death to haemorrhage and shock. When security guards of the colony tried to restrain him, he became physical. The guards retaliated in self-defence and struck Anmol on the head.

This was revealed by DCP (South East) Dr P Karunakaran on Tuesday. While briefing media about the sequence of events on that fateful night, he said the injury proved to be fatal and Anmol died soon after being wheeled into the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Anmol Sarna (21) was murdered by two security guards of South Park Apartments during a skirmish that took place on the premises of the building. Surender Bali alias Chunni lal and Naresh Mishra, the two guards on night patrol, were reportedly asked by residents to sober him up. According to police, Pranil, Shivang, Madhav and Anmol had on the evening of September 13 smoked a spliff while waiting for Rhytham Girhotra. They later went to Pranil’s room to orally ingest the blotter acid. A scuffle broke out between the friends and Pranil’s father threw all of them out, including his son.

Anmol was experiencing drug-induced psychosis, including amplification of nameless fears. He exhibited actions suggesting harm to himself and others around him. This harm, medical science says, could take the form of suicidal ideation, or full blown suicide attempts. Because of the magnification of emotions many psychedelics could possibly cause thoughts of death and intensely adverse reactions in some users. Users can believe that their death is imminent or that the very universe itself is collapsing. “Fearing the worst, Shivang called up his father and the gang left with him with Pranil and Anmol locked out of the house,” said the police official.

Anmol was seated outside the duplex house on the second floor forcing a neighbour to call the guards. When the guards approached him outside the door on the second floor, Anmol pushed them aside and sprinted. To silence him, the guards hit Anmol with batons leading to injuries on his head and back. Anmol also struck himself against several cars and a closed iron gate as well.

“Pranil’s father KD Shah called up Police Control Room and the PCR van arrived at 12.20 am. Anmol reached AIIMS at 12.44 am,” Karunakaran clarified.

Post-mortem revealed baton injuries to the head, back, flank and rump. Dipika, Anmol’s cousin told The Pioneer that they have full faith in the police. “Anmol was a fun-loving guy. He played the dhol and tabla. I wonder why no one warned us about his behaviour. If the boys had done nothing wrong, why did they fleeIJ” she questioned.
