Blind faith led to Pawan killing wife

Published on:

Superstitions played a vital role in Pawan murdering his wife and grievously injuring his father-in-law. Pawan, the accused in the Karkardooma Metro station shootout, was reportedly following the instructions of a tantrik, Suraj based at Brij Ghat. Police said that the godman seemed to be a provoking factor behind Pawan taking such an extreme step.

A relative of Deepti (Pawan's wife) said that Pawan often visited Suraj and took advices from him before taking any important decision.

Pawan shot his wife and his father-in-law on Tuesday at the Karkardooma Metro station. His body was found hanging from a tree near the Muradnagar railway station on Wednesday in Ghaziabad. Investigations revealed that it was Suraj, who had asked Pawan to kill his father-in-law so that he could get his wife back. Deepti had been living separately with her parents. "Pawan indulged in practicing black magic on the advice of his guru, which led him in killing his wife. The matter is being probed, arrests would be made after getting specific lead," said a senior police official.

Deepti's family also confirmed that Pawan had a lot of faith and believed in superstitions blindly. "In fact he had forcefully made his wife and children wear amulets (taweez). Pawan's wife Deepti never believed in all this and often refused to wear it but Pawan forced her.

We removed them when she started staying with us from December," the relative said.
