A 30-year-old woman, who posed as a journalist with a local Hindi daily, was arrested from east Delhi's Shakarpur area for allegedly extorting money by drugging people and making porn clips. She threatened to upload the video on the internet if they refused to cough up.
Meenakshi Sharma, alias Meena, was running an organised gang for the past two years and had extorted money from over 50 businessmen after making obscene videos. Her associates are absconding and Delhi Police is raiding several locations in Uttar Pradesh to nab them.
Meenakshi lived with her husband and two-year-old son in Shakarpur. "The arrest was made on Friday evening on the complaint of a 42-year-old east Delhi based businessman," said a source.
The complainant told the police that a fortnight ago, he received a call from Meenakshi seeking a meeting regarding some work. They met on June 9 at a restaurant in laxmi Nagar area.
"She took him to a rented flat on the pretext of a meeting with her employers. The complainant told the police he was offered a cold drink laced with sedatives there, which rendered him unconscious. The accused allegedly removed his clothes and shot a video of him with a girl," said a police source.
A few days ago, the victim received a call threatening him with a nude video clip of him and seeking Rs 2 lakh. "He immediately informed his wife and they approached the police. A case was registered under Sections 382, 384, 419 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Shakarpur Police Station," the source added.
The police laid a trap and told the victim to ask the women to collect the money from outside V3S Mall on June 14. "Meenakshi was caught accepting the money. The police also seized the video clip from her possession. She is now in police custody and has disclosed that in the last two years, she has blackmailed over 50 businessmen this way," said a police source.
