BJYM activists protest outside Rahul's house

Demanding resignation of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for his alleged involvement in a corruption case, activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest outside the residence of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the Capital on Tuesday. Around 200 protesters marched to Rahul Gandhi’s house demanding the resignation of Himachal CM, along with his MP wife, on graft charges.

The protesters raised slogans, carried placards and spoke about the double standards of Gandhi, who on one hand wants to fight corruption and on the other, supports people like the Singh in the party.

The protesters were lathi-charged and water-cannons were used on them in this bitter cold. BJYM activists along with BJYM President Anurag Thakur were detained at Tughlak Road Police Station but were later let off.

“On one hand Gandhi and his party wants to claim the credit for passing the lokpal Bill, whereas they continue with a corrupt Chief Minister in Himachal Pradesh. This is not the first time that his involvement has come up in a corruption case,” said Thakur.

The CBI is yet to submit a status report in another corruption case by February, 2014 in the Delhi High Court. The Congress cannot take any credit for passing acts in the Parliament without any credible action in such blatant and crystal clear corruption case. As per documents sent to the Prime Minister, this matter doesn’t even need any investigation. The CM must resign immediately,” he added.
