Senior leaders will tutor its poll managers

With the lok Sabha polls inching closer, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a crash course for its poll managers on Wednesday. Senior BJP leaders will educate its State unit office bearers and other party members on nuances of electioneering, interaction with media and propaganda strategy during a day-long workshop at Constitution Club. Sources said national leaders and spokespersons of the BJP will also brief the participants on effective presentation of the party’s policies on a wide range of issues. They said four senior party leaders and experts on election management will be teaching them lessons throughout the day.

Sources said a number of young party workers are new to parliamentary polls and hence, they need to be taught the basics of electioneering on such a large scale. The exercise, they said, also aims at strengthening the propaganda machinery ahead of the lok Sabha polls so as to take on the Opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leaders on media discussions and debates. “The participants will be trained on effective handling of media queries as well as putting forth the party’s vision and agenda for the elections. Only a select panel of party spokespersons and media in-charges will be entitled to speak to the media during the polls,” a BJP leader said.

leaders said the propaganda machinery is a key component of BJP’s campaign strategy for the elections. “The party has decided to tread cautiously. Besides raising the key issues of corruption, inflation and security, the party leaders have a great responsibility to uphold the image of prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in public view,” they added.
