BJP's Gupta bats for Jaitley in AAP-dominated House

leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta was the lone ranger in the Delhi Assembly’s one-day special session called on Tuesday. The BJP leader held the forte against the brute majority of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Highlighting the contributions of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) in promotion of cricket during Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely’s tenure as its president, Gupta said year after year at least 4-5 players played for the country.

The Rohini MlA said the Delhi Government’s demand for probe into DDCA is an act of vengeance after BCCI turned down the interference of the Delhi Government in a match organised in October.

“AAP MlAs are belitting the contribution of DDCA in promotion of cricket.  Delhi has given test players like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhwan, Ashish Nehra, Amit Mishra, Vijay Dahiya, Akash Chopra and Ishant Sharma.  There is a huge list of cricketers who have proved their mettle time and again. Year after year out of 15 players in Indian squad, atleast 4-5 players have been from Delhi.  This itself is an important achievement which proves that DDCA has played an important role in promotion of cricket in Delhi as well as India,” said Gupta.
