The Delhi BJP on Wednesday said BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's schedule rally on September 29 was the main focus of all the party workers and a comprehensive list of the candidates would be announced only after the rally.

"All the party functionaries are working overtime to make the September 29 rally a historic success. The rally, at present, is the main focus of all party activities, so we will come out with our list of candidates for the coming Assembly polls after September 29," Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said.

He reiterated that a candidate's winning capability would be the sole criterion for distribution of tickets as was announced by Delhi BJP in-charge Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday at the launch of BJP's election campaign. "We are confident that in the true tradition of a cadre-based party, once the candidates are announced, all party cadres and functionaries will work together for ensuring a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly polls, to end 15 years of Congress' misrule," Goel added. The announcement comes at a time when various factions within the party are fighting for Assembly tickets.

Meanwhile, former Delhi BJP president and in-charge of preparations for Modi's rally Vijender Gupta said efforts are being made to make the proposed rally an unprecedented one. He said the Delhi BJP will be sending one lakh invitation cards to people from various walks of life even as two to three lakh people are estimated to turn up. "Besides RWAs and Market Associations, at least 300 people from each ward will be invited for the rally. More than 5,000 volunteers will be working to mobilise the public and arrange basic facilities, including security and transport," said Gupta. He said a meeting of BJP leaders with senior police officials was also held on Wednesday.

The venue will be placed under CCTV camera surveillance and 100 police posts will be erected to keep a watch on the activities.
