With the Delhi Assembly elections due in 2015, the Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stones unturned to woo voters. The BJP Delhi on Wednesday said that the party would protect the interest of traders after coming to power.

BJP Delhi president Satish Upadhyay assured Petroleum Traders’ Welfare Association that after coming to power in Delhi, the BJP will remove anomaly in the rate of VAT in comparison with the neighbouring States. “Delhi is a distribution centre and the BJP very well understands the problems of traders and after coming to power we shall ensure that the trade in Delhi is not ruined due to anomaly in the VAT system,” he added. A delegation of Petroleum Traders Welfare Association met Upadhyay and apprised him about the problems being faced by the traders of petroleum products in Delhi.

The delegation is worried over the decline in the volume of trade due to double rate of VAT in comparison with the neighbouring States besides other difficulties of the traders. Other than this, Upadhyay also expressed his gratitude to the BJP Government at Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.“The declaration of this honour on the eve of the birthday of Atalji has created a wave of happiness in the entire country and honour to Malaviyaji has created a new awakening among the nationalists and religious minded people,” said Upadhyay.
