Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Manoj Tiwari on Sunday unveiled an annual achievement booklet of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). The booklet contains all the achievement of the civic body in the year 2017-18.
Referring to the achievements Tiwari stated that the SDMC has taken serious efforts under ‘Swachchh Bharat Mission’ to beautify the spaces underneath flyovers of other agencies to give a better look and image of the city. The most important feature of fixing of a replica of iconic Qutab Minar which has been constructed from the waste material lying at the SDMC stores. This object of “Waste to Art” is one of its kinds and installed for the first time in the Capital,” he said.
Tiwari said the civic body has transformed spaces below and around 15 flyovers at major roads. “The SDMC has done a remarkable job in the city. Initiatives such as replacement of over two lakh traditional street lights with energy-efficient lED lights, replacement of cars propelled by fuel with electric vehicles and taking concrete steps in the direction of going solar in a big way are completed in a very time bounding and efficient manner,” he said.
SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Dy Mayor Kailash Sankla, Standing Committee Chairman Bhupender Gupta, leader of House Shikha Rai, the Chairmen Ward Committees and other eminent persons were present on the occasion.
“The SDMC has become a synonym to development and transformation as it has completely changed the infrastructure in its parks by
providing open gyms, walking trails, gazebos, picnic hubs, yoga enclaves and vast green areas,” he said.
lauding its achievements in the field of education, Tiwari said the SDMC is concentrating on the ‘School Quality Enhancement Programme’, introduction of English medium schools and developing scientific attitude among students. “Apart from this SDMCs strides in the field of ease of doing business, online services and welfare of the poor strata of the society need to be publicised in a better way,” he said.
He also stated that the booklet is an articulate manifestation of the achievements.
Tiwari complimented the Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat and her team and the Commissioner Dr Puneet Kumar Goel and his officers for working in tandem with an aim to improve the amenities and disseminating the visible and beneficial development across SDMC localities.
