BJP to knock on doors to feel 'real pulse' of voters

Don’t be surprised to find BJP leaders like VK Malhotra, Vijay Goel or Harsh Vardhan knocking on your doors in the coming days. In a bid to reach out to voters, all BJP workers, including senior leaders and officebearers will be visiting at least 20 households in their respective areas.

The party is also coordinating with its national leaders to approach voters. The idea is a part of the micro-booth level management in the run up to the December 4 Assembly elections in the Capital.

The five-day door-to-door campaign will be starting October 17. This, according to party leaders, will also decipher the ‘real pulse’ of voters, apart from creating a database of voters through e-mail IDs and mobile numbers which would be used to reach out in the later phases of campaigning.

Elaborating on the mass contact programme — Ghar-Ghar BJP — Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel said he would participate in the campaign by visiting homes and meeting families personally at Majnu Ka Tila during this period. Similarly, leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, VK Malhotra will be visiting the households in Chirag Dilli while Dr Harsh Vardhan and Vijender Gupta would be campaigning in Krishna Nagar and Rohini respectively.

The party workers will also be carrying a feedback form with a set of 15 questions ranging from performance of Delhi and Central Government, their response related to performance of BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations, the issues of water, sewerage and power tariff to questions related to performance of the local Councillor and MlAs.  The voters would also be able to put in their suggestions which they would like to be incorporated into the election manifesto of BJP.

“Around 3.75 lakh party workers will be hitting the streets to make the campaign a success. Since the target is to reach every household, it will be a complete survey. No other survey had that kind of a sample size. Even if half of the target is achieved, it will give a fair idea of the issues currently concerning people,” a senior BJP leader said.

“The workers have been asked to collect phone numbers, email IDs, details of their accounts on social networking sites on Facebook and Twitter. This will help us in creating a database that will be used by telecallers of our call centre and social media managers to reach out to people in the next phase of the election. Even on the election, the party workers will call people requesting them to vote,” leaders said.

“It will be a positive campaign offering solutions to problems being faced by people due to Congress’s 15-year misrule in Delhi. The BJP will also share with people the party Prime Ministerial candidate Modi’s vision for strengthening the nation,” said Goel.
