Reacting to Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal going abroad to collect funds to fight in the upcoming Assembly elections, the Delhi BJP on Wednesday said that by talking of fund collection during the US visit, the AAP leadership has once again degraded the democratic values of Indian polity.
“Never in the history of India has any political party gone abroad for election fund collection. On one hand, the AAP has already launched a very expensive high-tech campaign in Delhi and on the other hand, the party leaders, who talk of high ideals, are going abroad for fund collection,” said Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Delhi BJP media in-charge.
“This makes us believe that this party survives on foreign funds and ponder that may be the fund they claim to be given by people is actually the money provided by Ford Foundation,” he added.
As the AAP claims to have collected Rs1.5 crore at fund-raisers in Mumbai and Delhi, BJP’s city unit earlier had demanded Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to direct the Income Tax Department to investigate AAP’s fund generating process. On Monday, the BJP accused the AAP of not being transparent in its dealings and laundering black money in the garb of party funds.
“Since they claim they are transparent in their dealings, why don’t they put details of those who donated at the two events onlineIJ They should tell people about the 200 people who have donated,’’ Delhi BJP general secretary and South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri had said.
