Following the exposure of the extravagant expenditure on beautification of the official bungalow of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi BJP came down heavily on the AAP convener and demanded his resignation.
“Today, it has been established that Arvind Kejriwal does not live in a house but in Sheesh Mahal and we demand that Chief Minister Kejriwal should open his Sheesh Mahal for public viewing. Arvind Kejriwal should own moral responsibility and resign,” Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva asserted.
Sachdeva said that during the period from 2020 to 2022 which was the Covid phase, many development works were postponed by the governments in the country due to lack of funds, but the people of Delhi are shocked by the ‘sting’ operation which exposed that Kejriwal splashed Rs 44.78 crore on the beautification of his official bungalow and office.
. “In that critical phase Arvind Kejriwal’s splashing of about Rs 45 crore on his bungalow is a big proof of his insensitivity,” Sachdeva said.
“Post the ‘sting’ operation that highlighted an expenditure of over Rs 11 crore on artistic ornamental works as well as other beautification projects in the official bungalow, the people of Delhi are overawed as to how big and grand is the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence. Even today, a nice bungalow can be built in Delhi for Rs 11 crore,” Sachdeva said.
“Similarly, the people of Delhi are shocked to learn that a whopping Rs 2.58 crore was spent on electrical fittings alone in the official bungalow and Rs 1.10 crore was spent on building just a kitchen. Such amounts would suffice to buy a decent house or a flat in a posh area in Delhi,” the Delhi BJP president said.
Sachdeva said that generally it is beyond comprehension what will be the grandeur of those three almirahs on which Rs 25 lakh were spent.
According to the sting operation, the cost of the almirah made for his parents at the Chief Minister’s residence was about Rs 12 lakh, the cost of the almirah made for his son was Rs 8 lakh and about Rs 4 lakh were spent on the almirah made for his daughter.
