BJP shielding Sheila, alleges Kapil Mishra

Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra accused the BJP of “shielding” former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the alleged Rs400-crore water tanker scam.

“We have a 125 pages report against Sheila Dikshit; what proof does BJP have against Arvind Kejriwal. We give the BJP Government two months to arrest Sheila Dikshit or we will take the matter further any which way we can on our own,” Mishra said.

Opposition leader in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta termed Mishra’s allegation “baseless” and sought to know why Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had sat upon the report of a fact-finding panel formed by the Water Minister for 11 months.

Mishra claimed that there are some leaders in the BJP who want to “protect” Dikshit. “BJP is shielding Sheila Dikshit in the water scam which runs into Rs 400 crore. We had registered three FIRs against her in corruption cases around one-and-a-half years ago, but why BJP is still silent on Anti-Corruption Branch’s inaction on those cases,” Mishra told reporters.

Responding to the BJP’s demand to cancel the agreement with a company inked by the Sheila Dikshit Government in 2012, the Minister said the move would only affect water supply.

On the other hand, reacting to the Minister’s statement, Gupta said the Chief Minister and the Water Minister need to tell the people why they had sat on the report for 11 months. By levelling baseless allegation against the BJP, the Government wants to divert people’s attention from the real issues,” Gupta said.

Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on June 12 had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung recommending either CBI or ACB probe against Dikshit in connection with alleged water tanker scam.

“The l-G has forwarded the committee’s report to the ACB for appropriate action in the matter. He has also forwarded Gupta’s complaint that the Delhi Chief Minister suppressed the report of the fact-finding committee for 11 months,” a Government source said.

last week, the AAP Government had made the committee’s report public after Gupta demanded from Kejriwal in Delhi Assembly for it.
