BJP seeks discussion on illegal colonies, polluted water in Assembly session

The BJP has demanded a detailed discussion on the regularisation of unauthorised colonies and the issue of ‘polluted’ potable water supply by the Delhi Jal Board in a two-day session of the Delhi Assembly scheduled to begin on Monday.

Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said that he has demanded to discuss issues like air pollution , sewer deaths and other important burning issues related to public interest. “The other issues required to be discussed in the Assembly including misinformation campaign launched by the Government on regularisation of unauthorised colonies and ownership rights to property holders, scam in purchase of 1000 low floor CNG  buses and corruption of Rs 100 crores through DISCOMS in installing LED light system on public streets,” he said.

He said that if the Assembly fails to allow discussion on these topics, the Opposition will have no choice but to bring in Adjournment Motion under Rule 59 of Delhi Assembly.

Gupta said that Kejriwal is spreading false narration about important public interest issues and misguiding Delhiites. He has urged the Assembly that Opposition should be given due time for taking up these issues.

“The Opposition has sought reply from the Government on 40 burning topics like failure of the Government to give about Rs 10,000 crores to the three Municipal Bodies as part of devolution of funds, not making available water and sewer in slums and unauthorized colonies, lack of facilities in night shelters, non implementation of promise to give free DTC rides to students and physically handicap persons, not giving permission for prosecution of Kanhaiya Kumar and his associates,” he said.
