BJP MP and former Union Minister Vijay Goel on Tuesday demanded the ouster of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) Commissioner PK Gupta accusing him of corrupt practices. Goel said he has written a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and lieutenant- Governor Najeeb Jung accusing Commissioner PK Gupta of promoting corruption in MCD.
“Gupta is incompetent and inefficient as a Commissioner. Neither is he able to take any decisions nor he is able to tackle his subordinates. Under the provisions of the Section-59 of the DMC Act provides that the entire executive powers/duty of the corporation shall vest with the Commissioner who shall also exercise all the powers and perform all the duties specifically conferred or imposed upon him by this act or by any other law for the time being in force. The power conferred upon the commissioner are being used whimsically, instead of implementing the standing committee/corporation resolutions, especially where the great public interest in involved,” Goel said.
Goel added that illegal construction is going on everywhere and Karol Bagh area is its main hub. “CBI and CVC must look into the matter. The Commissioner is continuously dishonoring the General House and is not acting on the resolutions passed by the august House in the interest of the general public. In last year, 24 such resolutions have been passed, out of which the Commissioner responded on only one resolution, which shows his incompetence,” said Goel, adding that most complaints of corruption are related to transfer/posting and illegal construction.”
