BJP MLAs seek CBI probe into liquor scam

Following up on the two “sting videos” targeting the AAP leadership, Delhi BJP MLAs have written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking probe into the alleged liquor policy scam, for necessary action over alleged attempts by the ruling AAP to divert the issue.

Addressing a joint Press conference, BJP leaders Sudhanshu Trivedi, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Vijendra Gupta and Om Prakash Sharma reminded Arvind Kejriwal of his appeal to people to record video clips of corruption when he first came to power.

Trivedi said Kejriwal, who earlier assured people of action if he was provided with sting videos as proof of corruption, should take action or tender a public apology.

"A recent sting video clearly exposes the AAP as it claims to be 'kattar imandar'. Despite this, it has been trying to divert the issue. Delhi BJP MLAs, in view of this diversionary tactics and inaction by the Kejriwal Government, suspect that it will not let a proper investigation happen into the irregularities in the excise policy," he said. Trivedi also took a swipe at the AAP Government for a Special Assembly Session to face a trust vote, saying the danger was never about AAP’s confidence in the Assembly but the party’s credibility. “If a party with 90 per cent members in the House go for a Confidence Motion without even being asked, this reflects that the Kejriwal Government has lost the confidence of the people. Those who used to ask people for sting operations are now refusing from their own stand,” Trivedi said.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia did not reply to BJP MLA's questions raised in the Assembly.

“How a party’s character changes with time… Today Kejriwal is shamelessly stalling the matter after such substantial proof. He must either take action on it or apologise for his statement given seven years back,” he said. Bidhuri also said the AAP Government has given 1,000 liquor licenses to banquet hall owners, bars at hotels and restaurants against its policy to open only 849 liquor vendor shops.

“They have also given permission to run dance bars in the backdrop of operating liquor vendor shops,” he claimed.

Bidhuri also said the AAP Government has provided over 1,000 liquor licenses to banquet hall owners, bars at hotels and restaurants as against its policy to open only 849 liquor vendor shops. “They have also given permission to run dance bars in the backdrop of operating liquor vendor shops,” he said. The BJP leader further questioned why the new policy was taken back when it was claimed to be “world-class”. He said the sting operation has made it very clear that half of the increased commission of contractors that is six percent has gone into the pockets of Kejriwal and Sisodia.
