BJP's Members of Parliament (MPs) from the national Capital and Union Ministers observed a day long fast on Thursday to mark their protest against the Parliament logjam during the recently concluded Budget Session.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Commerce Industry Suresh Prabhu, Ministry of  Water & Sanitation Uma Bharti , Minister for Women & Child Development Maneka Gandhi and MP from New Delhi seat Meenakshi lekhi sat on fast near Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place.  Union Minister Vijay Goel and Delhi BJP State unit president Manoj were seen together for a while in North - East constituency.

Addressing the gathering near Hanuman Mandir,  Prabhu said that our Government wanted to pass some bills for the betterment of people , however, the Opposition did not allow us by obstructing proceedings of the Parliament.”

“We have dedicated today's fast to establishing development and constructive politics in the country. We pledge to work for fulfillment of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi's dream to make India the Vishwa Guru,” lekhi said.  The people sitting on fast at Hanuman Mandir chanted “Jai Shree Ram” to lift up the spirits of the participants.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, who represents the Chandani Chowk constituency, East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, New Delhi MP Meenakshi lekhi, West Delhi MP Pravesh Verma, North West Delhi MP Udit Raj, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Tiwari participated in the day-long strike that will conclude at 4 p.m.

Dr Vardhan said that the opposition parties today stand exposed before the electorate for their negative politics while the PM Modi stands for development politics and this is the reason why state after state BJP is gaining strength.

Tiwari while addressing the people in his constituency said that  he will continued his indefinite hunger strike to protest against politically biased denial of development funds by Delhi government to his area with immediate concern being funds for a link loop at Shastri Park flyover to ease heavy traffic congestion in the area.

Tiwari said, “It is sad as politically rejected Congress and other opposition parties stalled the working of Parliament during the budget session, the government not only managed to complete important business transactions but PM Modi has set a precedent by deciding to forego salary of ruling NDA MPs for the 23 lost days of Parliament work.”

“This should become a rule that Parliamentarians will not get salary when the House is stalled and the Opposition Parties need to take a lesson from this,” he added.

The BJP's fast comes days after Congress President Rahul Gandhi led the party's day-long hunger strike at the Rajghat here on Monday over alleged increasing atrocities on Dalits, adivasis and minorities.
