BJP leaders in MCD operating NGOs like mafia nexus: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Municipal Corporation of Delhi are operating NGOs like a mafia nexus to squander money and these NGOs are more registered in the name of the relatives of BJP leaders and their associates. Senior AAP leader and MCD in-charge, Durgesh Pathak said that until now these NGOs were collecting their funds themselves but now the BJP has put out a proper order directing MCD officials to go to every trader, every industrialist and any other person they can find to extort money in the name of donation into these NGOs.

“In April, they circulated an entire list of NGOs by region with their bank account details. I am certain this is the first instance of such brazen corruption. The BJP has put government officials on the job of collecting funds for their loot. These NGOs were first awarded tenders for various works then government officials were asked to collect funds for them,” alleged Pathak.

“A tender was awarded for school upkeep work to a non-existent NGO by the MCD. The first question that arises out of this mess is why was the NGO awarded the tender in the first place? Then we investigated further to discover more details about the NGO, which is registered in Ashok Vihar with no trace of an office or anyone in-charge,” said Pathak.

“This so-called NGO was blindly handed over all the work for MCD schools and the BJP further directed its officers to extort as much money as possible from every single shop in the area in the name of fundraising,” said Pathak.
