BJP leader Vani Tripathi assaulted

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) national secretary Vani Tripathi has alleged that she was manhandled by gang of drunken men on Thursday night. She was coming from Chirag Delhi flyover and was going towards Nehru Place.

Tripathi said she was assaulted by five men, who were driving a Scorpio car, near Savitri cinema in south Delhi. A Scorpio hit the rear of her car. The driver of the Scorpio identified as Ram. The accident resulted in bursting the rear tyre of her car.

“The men were drunk and tried to grab me. They were constantly abusing my driver and even tired to get inside my car. My driver locked me inside the car and countered them. I called the police but their arrival got delayed because of the traffic,” said Vani.

“Even thought there were so many cars plying on the road but no one bothered to stop or help,” she further added.

However, senior Delhi Police officials said that the BJP leader entered into a compromise with the five persons and the matter was filed at CR Park police station. The police said that five men travelling in a Scorpio had also paid a certain amount for the damage caused to Vani Tripathi’s vehicle.

The police officials also claimed that in her written complaint there is no mention of manhandling. However, she denies any sort of compromise that was reached before the Investigating Officer.

In fact, she said that she did not want anyone to be arrested or taken into custody but wanted to know who owned the Scorpio and they should be told to behave.
