BJP holds protest at CM's house

Accusing the Government of failing to check soaring onion prices, the Delhi BJP on Wednesday staged a protest in front of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's residence.

Carrying onions bags, party activists led by Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel gathered to shout anti-Government slogans. Goel said, "The BJP will launch a large-scale protest if prices do not come down soon." He accused the Government of being hand-in-glove with hoarders.Addressing party workers, former Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said, "Wholesale markets in Delhi are governed by the Government, but it has done nothing to ensure adequate supply of onions and thus check spiralling prices." Former Mayor and BJP national secretary Aarti Mehra said, "People of Delhi are already facing hardships due to increase in prices of electricity, water, pulses, foodgrain and other commodities of daily use. It is estimated that an average household budget in Delhi has gone up by 40 per cent during the past year itself."
