Attacking BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader Gopal Rai said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has done nothing for the residents of unauthorised colonies except insulting them.

“It is the Delhi Government that constructed roads, laid pipelines in these colonies besides providing basic amenities after being elected in Delhi but BJP did nothing to regularise such colonies when it was in power from 1993 to 1998,” he said.

Delhi Government has spent approx Rs 3500 Cr on construction of road and drains and further Rs 25000 Cr on laying water pipelines, he added.

Rai said that the BJP came to power in Delhi and had three chief ministers within the its five-year term in 1993. I want to ask what it did then for the regularisation of unauthorised colonies,” he said.

He also said that the centre and municipal Corporations of Delhi have done nothing in years.

“It is for the first time in its history that the BJP has held a dharna for the residents of unauthorised colonies. Otherwise, they do not even consider them resident of Delhi, he added.
