With six weeks to go for the Delhi elections, the BJP of the city claimed to have acquired the support of dalit voters with eight BSP leaders joining the party on Thursday. Former BJP president and Delhi BJP in-charge Nitin Gadkari welcomed the new members to the party and claimed the BJP of being the only democratic party in the current political scenario.
“The nation is grappling with issues of corruption and inflation. We hope that with the hard work of our party members, we are able to uproot the Congress party. The members who joined on Thursday have worked a lot for the upliftment of minorities in their regions. This will help us in our in-depth approach to reach out to the masses,” said Gadkari at an event organised at his residence.
The members who joined the BJP include Suman Saini, Wasiq Rana and Azad Bhati from areas like Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. “We are fed up with the party we worked for. People in UP no longer believe in the BSP or SP, they all have just one name and one hope and that is ‘Modi’,” said Suman Saini.
Besides, Gadkari went on to say that the BJP is the sole party which doesn’t work on ‘inheritance’. “Sonia Gandhi rules the Congress, in BSP everything happens according to Mayawati and in the Samajwadi Party the entire ruling family is involved. Whereas, in our party, everything happens after discussion and consensus with our party members,”
added Gadkari.
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said, “Our hard work will bring us back to power. We welcome the new members who have worked in their own places at the grassroot
level.” Senior BJP leaders
VK Malhotra, Arti Mehra, Harsh Vardhan and Vijender Gupta were also present on
the occasion.
