Coming down heavily on the Kejriwal Government, leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Tuesday alleged that the auto permit scam has taken place with connivance of the Delhi Government. He said that if the matter is objectively probed, the multi-crore scam involving the concerned Minister, MlAs and AAP workers will come to light. He also demanded special session of the Vidhan Sabha to discuss the scam.
Gupta said that the Delhi Government committed a scam of issuing 10,000 auto permits in the name of odd-even scheme. “When BJP brought the scam to light, the Government performed the formality of action against corruption by suspending small fishes involved in the scam. But the accused primarily responsible for scam have not been exposed,” he said, demanding a CBI enquiry into the matter. He would meet lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung and urge him to order CBI inquiry to bring truth to light, he added.
According to Gupta, hundreds of the poor and auto drivers were made to believe that their 15-year-old autos have become worthless due to new regulations. The gullible auto drivers were made to sale their three-wheelers at throw away price ranging between `20,000-25,000. Transfer of ownership of 15-year-old vehicles is not permissible as per rules. But the connivance made it possible. As a result, the Delhi Government suffered heavy financial loss due to non-receipt of transfer fee.
The scam caused loss of lakhs of rupees to the Delhi Government.
