Demanding the ouster of 21 AAP MlAs, the Delhi BJP on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the President of India, demanding disqualification of 21 AAP MlAs who have been appointed Parliamentary Secretaries in the Delhi Government.
Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhayay said in addition to the order of allotment of rooms to 21 MlAs appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries by the Delhi legislative Assembly we had submitted the copy of the letter issued by the Secretary to the Chief Minister before the Election Commission in which it has been clarified that these MlAs shall be provided rooms and Government vehicles.
leader of the Opposition Vijender Gupta pointed out before the Election Commission that the Delhi Government had tried to get a resolution passed in the last session of legislative Assembly according to which proposal was made to amend the Constitutional provisions for the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries with retrospective effect.
“This way the proposal for the amendment with retrospective confirms that the Government was well aware that these appointments are illegal,” he said.
BJP National Secretary RP Singh said in similar circumstances Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Jaya Baccha had also resigned. “The Delhi Government is not only violating the Constitution in the case of Parliamentary Secretaries but also violating the Model Code of Conduct issued by the Election Commission which has been seen in the recently held municipal by-elections,” he said.
