BJP demands Bharti's dismissal

The Delhi BJP got a short in the arm with the court ordering registration of criminal case in the matter related to controversial raid against African women by Somnath Bharti and his associates. An aggressive BJP demanded immediate removal of Bharti from the Delhi Cabinet failing which the party would launch an agitation.

Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said that after a court order of FIR in case involving Bharti along with several AAP workers, he should be removed immediately. “The incident highlights ‘AAP style’ of governance which is racist, discriminatory, violent and anarchic. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bluff of taking high moral ground on all issues has been exposed. He is protecting his law Minister who has emerged as the biggest lawbreaker in the Government,” Goel said.

He alleged that instead of taking action against his party leaders and Ministers who are taking law into their own hands, Kejriwal along with Cabinet is trying to divert the attention of people from the real issues by announcing a dharna at the Union Home Ministry. “What Kejriwal needs to do is set his house in order. While he continues to talk about political morality, his words are much louder than his actions. Had he got even a slight bit of political morality, he would have sacked Bharti and some other Ministers also for taking law in their own hands, behaving arrogantly and violating various norms of administration,” Goel said.

The BJP president also demanded revoking the law practicing licence of Bharti on the basis of the complaint filed by the BJP few days ago. “But that (cancellation of licence) is not sufficient. The BJP wants him to resign. Right from the day he has taken over as law Minister, he has violated almost every rule in the rule book,” he added.
