The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal of lying to Election Commission by not revealing the exact amount of funds it received from donations.
Addressing a Press conference at the Delhi BJP office, Manoj Tiwari, President, Delhi BJP said, “Kejriwal and his party have lied to that institution, which acts as a watchdog for political parties.” “The AAP in its affidavit to the Income-Tax (I-T) Department in 2013-14 said that it received Rs 50.64 crore donation, while on its website it disclosed that it received Rs 19.82 crore,” Tiwari added.
“They informed the Election Commission that they received only Rs 6 crore donation in 2013-14,” Tiwari alleged.
Citing media reports, Tiwari said, “The channel in its report on Monday showed discrepancies in the donations that AAP received. We also probed and were shocked to find the details. We were shocked that the AAP lied not only to the I-T department but also to the Election Commission,” said BJP leader.
“The AAP in its affidavit to the I-T Department in 2013-14 said that it received Rs 50.64 crore donation, while on its website it disclosed that it received Rs 19.82 crore,” Tiwari added.
“They informed the Election Commission that they received only Rs 6 crore donation in 2013-14,” Tiwari alleged. “Was it the money which Kapil Mishra saw you (Kejriwal) receiving from Satyendar Jain (Health Minister)IJ” he questioned.
Attacking the AAP and its national convenor Kejriwal, Tiwari said, “They again lied in 2014-15, when in their affidavit to the I-T Department they claimed that they only received Rs 65.52 crore as donation, while on their website it was mentioned that they received Rs 27.48 crore,” he said.
“Where did the rest of Rs 40 crore goIJ Is it the same money which is being converted into whiteIJ” Tiwari further questioned. “We are going to the EC at 4 pm today to complain against them,” Tiwari said. AAP is a gang of fraudsters, where if anyone raises his voice is ousted from the party,” Tiwari reacted.
Tiwari also accused the AAP-led Delhi Government of betraying the people of Delhi who voted for a corruption free Government.
“People of Delhi voted for a corruption free Government, but what did they get in return — betrayal, corruption, loot, lies, hawala and bribery,” he said.
Reacting on marshalling out the leader of Opposition (lOP) Vijender Gupta from Delhi Assembly, Tiwari said that they (AAP) turned out Gupta from the House to stop him from raising corruption issues and a ruling party MlA Sourabh Bhardwaj was allowed to present a duplicate Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) presentation in an effort to malign the EVM based election system.
“Passing of a resolution against EVM based election system in Vidhan Sabha is a proof of dual character of the AAP, if their leaders feel that the machines are wrong then they should first seek a re-election of Delhi Vidhan Sabha as they were themselves elected through the same machine,” he said.
