BJP blames AAP for demolition of Hanuman temple

Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday alleged there was a conspiracy the way Arvind Kejriwal’s Government demolished the ancient Hanuman Mandir in Chandni Chowk.

Attacking  Kejriwal, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri demanded  re-designing of the temple.

The BJP leaders will meet Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for the reconstruction of the temple at Chandni Chowk and  to intervene in this matter.

Gupta said that the Delhi Religious Committee is headed by a Minister of Kejriwal government, Satyendar Jain and if he wanted he could have resolved the matter but he did not do so at the behest of CM Kejriwal.

“Religious organizations and priests of the temple also requested to save the Prachin Hanuman Mandir, but the CM did not accept their request. When the work of modification in Chandni Chowk was started, the local RWAs, Stakeholders, Market Associations and Traders Associations opposed it but the Kejriwal government did not stop the work,” he added.

The temple committee and the local people also requested the PWD officials that even though the temple is small but it is ancient and shouldn't be touched. Earlier, in November,2020 the local people of Chandni Chowk moved to the High Court to save the temple, but the High Court clearly said that on matters related to religions or religious places, the religious committee under the state government resolves it.

Condemning the temple demolition, LoP Bidhuri said that religious committee under the state government has the right to take a stand in the court that the demolishing of the temple will hurt the faith of the people and that the law and order may be disturbed, so the temple should not be demolished, but religious committee of the Kejriwal government did not present its stand in court to save the ancient Hanuman temple.
