Demanding removal and arrest of Delhi law Minister Somnath Bharti for his ‘illegal activities’, the Delhi BJP staged a citywide protest against the Government and also approached the lieutenant-Governor for necessary action.
The BJP held 14 protests in all districts demanding action against Bharti. Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders also handed over the evidence to the l-G against former CM Sheila Dikshit and her Ministers involvement in the CWG scam.
Addressing a protest march, BJP leader Harsh Vardhan said it was shameful that the AAP Government has given a clean chit to Bharti for his controversial action against African women. He said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also the AAP chief, should not make it a prestige issue for the party. He claimed that the AAP is behaving in the most arrogant manner and its name should be changed from the Aam Aadmi Party to Arrogance At Peak party.
The Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said, “There have been cases filed against Somnath Bharti for violating dignity of women and revealing name of the Danish woman who was a victim of gang-rape. He has been indicted by a court in the past for professional misconduct. The BJP asked the l-G why no action is being taken against him and why he has not been arrested so far.”
Meanwhile, the BJP claimed it has collected sufficient evidence against the previous Congress-led Delhi Government for their involvement in corruption and demanded action against Congress leaders. “Kejriwal had said he has no proof to act against Dikshit and her Ministers. The BJP has collated the evidence and handed it over to the l-G for necessary action,” Goel said.
