BJP: Jain indulging in extortion in Tihar jail, shift him to other jail

The BJP  on Sunday intensified its attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and demanded the transfer of jailed Minister Satyendar Jain from Tihar jail to another prison after conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar alleged that he was forced to bring “over 30 people to contribute Rs 500 crore towards his party”.

Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi on Sunday demanded that jailed AAP minister Satyendar Jain be transferred to some other prison outside Delhi.  Lekhi alleged that Jain was indulging in "extortion" of money from inside the jail, citing a letter by conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

“The Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi should transfer Satyendar Jain to another jail. How can he continue to remain as the jail minister despite being in jail? He is influential and extorts money from inside the jail," Lekhi at a press conference in the national capital.

Lekhi also asked the Kejriwal government to explain why the AAP took Rs 50 crore from “maha thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar”.

Jain, arrested by enforcement directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case, is currently lodged in Mandoli jail in Delhi.

The BJP has dubbed Kejriwal a "maha thug" and demanded his resignation. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Saturday, spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said,"This letter exposes Arvind Kejriwal as a maha (great) thug who conned (the) conman and has cheated his every friend." With the help of Chandrashekhar, “Kejriwal wanted to develop thuggery into an industry, to raise money for himself and his party and he is running a Kejriwal thuggery centre,” Bhatia alleged.

Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri also sought explanation from the Kejriwal.  He said that Kejriwal and his ministers and MLAs deserves Bharat Ratna in corruption.

Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala asked Kejriwal if he had met the conman "at the farmhouse of his minister Kailash Gahlot" and sought to know what discussions were held.

In his letter, Chandrashekhar has allegedly said that he was asked Rs 50 crore for Rajya Sabha seat by Jain and also to arrange 30 persons to provide Rs 500 crore for expansion of AAP in Southern India.  The AAP has alleged that the BJP is using Chandrashekhar against the party as it is scared by the prospect of its defeat in Gujarat Assembly polls and MCD polls in Delhi.
