Bizman burnt alive as car rams tree

A young restaurateur was burnt alive as his car went up in flames after crashing into a tree in South-West Delhi’s Inderpuri area on Friday. The man, identified as Sharan (23), could not free himself from the burning car as the impact of the crash may have snapped the power supply to the central locking system rendering it ineffective and jamming the doors, said police. At around 5.30 am, Sharan was on his way to a gurdwara in Das Garha village in his Honda City. As he reached Todapur in Inderpuri area, he lost control over the car and hit a tree. “The car caught fire and Sharan was trapped inside as the doors had jammed shut due to central locking,” said a senior police officer.

“We got a PCR call at 5.43 pm following which a team rushed to the spot. The victim was extricated with the help of firemen and rushed to a hospital nearby in a PCR van where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the officer said. Although Sharan could not be immediately identified, later police was able to establish his identity. “He lived with his family in Naraina Vihar and had a restaurant business in Paschim Vihar area. We have registered a case of accident and further investigations are on,” the officer said.
